The two-day culinary showdown brought together 15 of Newcastle’s best-loved Indian street food vendors in a competition decided by one key ingredient: popularity. Vendors competed to see who could sell the most dishes, and for the third year running, My Delhi was crowned champion.

Visitors were treated to My Delhi’s iconic Butter Chicken 1950s, a creamy favourite that even featured on BBC’s Britain’s Top Takeaway, as well as their fiery new Indo-Chinese Firecracker Paneer. Rounding out their menu were the crispy, golden Onion Bhajis, to the fan-favourite line-up that kept customers coming back for more.

Set against the lively backdrop of Wylam Brewery in Exhibition Park, the event featured the city's top Indian eateries, creating a vibrant celebration of Newcastle’s street food scene. Aromas of sizzling spices filled the brewery as foodies flocked to experience the best of Newcastle’s Indian cuisine.

“We’re incredibly proud of the originality and hard work that goes into everything we do at My Delhi,” said Elahi Amin, Director of My Delhi. “From our unique recipes to the packaging, every detail reflects our passion. Our Butter Chicken 1950s has become a true trademark for us—a dish that people now recognise and associate with My Delhi. Winning again is a wonderful affirmation of our team’s dedication and creativity.”

With My Delhi’s third consecutive Argie Bhaji victory, the North East’s appetite for Indian street food has been affirmed once again, highlighting the talent and creativity that make Newcastle’s food culture thrive. As the last food battle of the year, this win wraps up 2024 on a high note for the team at My Delhi, and sets the stage for more culinary adventures to come.

Congratulations to My Delhi Newcastle team and to all the vendors who made this year’s Argie Bhaji a flavourful feast to remember!
